The key idea is to provide a mechanism for converting energy source units across various energy sources. One example could be the conversion of say kWH to BTU units.
This can be accomplished by using the concept of Virtual meter types (see "Meter Types in Energy AnalytiX"). Let’s consider how we can convert kWH units of an electric meter to BTU units without adding another energy meter for BTU units.
Step 1: Configure a BTU Virtual Meter Type
This approach will enable the user to define energy calculations for BTU, based on electric kWH units without adding a dedicated BTU energy meter.
Step 2: Add a BTU Energy Consumption Calculation
In this approach, we cannot use the default energy calculation expression x={{meter:*.*}}, since there is no BTU energy meter configured. However, because BTU is a virtual meter type, we can use an electric meter (kWH) consumption tag and just add the conversion factor for BTU. (see "Adding Energy Calculations").
