Introduction to ICONICS BACnet Runtime

GENESIS64 contains BACnet Runtime, which is a DCOM application providing universal access to a BACnet network and devices in it for all GENESIS64 applications and modules. It acts as a BACnet device itself, providing its own basic and runtime information. Its ID is derived from the last portion of its IP Address. (NOTE: If this ID already exists on the network, then a randomly selected ID is chosen and tested to be used on the network).

A front-end user has limited possibility to influence the internal behavior of BACnet Runtime in terms of which methods it uses to communicate with devices and how it retrieves and sends data. This is decided by BACnet Runtime itself, based on the 'opposite-side' device capabilities.
