Note: This topic describes State and Range selector use in 3D displays in GraphWorX64. For information that is specific to 2D displays, refer to Selectors and Animation. |
On the 3D Dynamics ribbon when two or more objects are selected, the Selector dynamics of State and Range become available. Selectors are dynamic actions that you apply to a group of objects so that, at runtime, different objects display at different times based on:
criteria you specify
data values sent from the data source.
An object that has a State Selector dynamic is essentially a switch. It changes from state to state, and each state is driven by the data sent to the dynamic from a data source such as an OPC tag on sensor or a user-entry field on a dashboard. You might use a State Selector for a traffic light (three colored circles in a group); a series of signs such as Stop, Go, and Yield; or an on/off switch. To remind you of its uses, the State Selector icon has a switch on it.
An object that has a Range Selector dynamic animates a group of selected objects in a sequence of frames so that the objects play much like a movie. You might use a range selection to change the colors of alternate quadrants of a sphere and set the interval over which the colors are switched to the portion of the range of values that a tag has.
Note: When you assign a Selector dynamic to a set of selected objects those objects are grouped if they weren't already part of a group and can't be ungrouped until the dynamic is removed. Selectors cannot be applied to the group object as a whole, but to a set of selected objects in a group only. |
