Description : This document provides tables of operating systems and other programs that are compatible with ICONICS products.
Requirements for unreleased products, labeled "Not Released", are subject to change before release. Look for an updated copy of this document after release.
Items labeled “Not Tested” are combinations that ICONICS does not explicitly test for or support, but for which there are no known issues. Items labeled “Not Supported” have known issues. ICONICS does not guarantee compatibility for either of these categories. Issues found in a “Not Tested” or “Not Supported” scenario may not be solvable by ICONICS Technical Support without migrating to a supported scenario.
This document uses "ICONICS Suite™" to refer to these products: GENESIS64™, Hyper Historian™, Energy AnalytiX®, Quality AnalytiX®, Facility AnalytiX®, MobileHMI™, BridgeWorX™64, ReportWorX™64, and AlarmWorX™64 MMX. Not all ICONICS Suite products were available in every version. See version-specific documentation to determine what products were available for that version.

[1] General Note: Web clients can also be 32-bit versions of these operating systems. Other than that, the supported operating systems for web clients are the same as for the servers.
[2] Note for Embedded operating systems: ICONICS cannot guarantee compatibility with “Embedded” class operating systems. “Embedded” operating systems are often customized for their particular device, and if any operating system components were removed that our product relies on then those features will not function properly.
[3] Server Installation Options Note: For server class operating systems that offer "Server Core" or "Desktop Experience" options, ICONICS Suite only supports "Desktop Experience".
[4] Server 2012 and 2012 R2 Note: Microsoft SQL Server 2019, which comes with version 10.97.2, is not supported on Server 2012 or 2012 R2. Version 10.97.2 users installing on these operating systems should install a supported version of SQL Server before installing ICONICS Suite or use a remote SQL Server instance.
[5] Note: AnyGlass Server for MobileHMI and WebHMI (HTML5) in version 10.8x or later requires WebSockets not available in operating systems earlier than Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

[1] General Note: Web clients can also be 32-bit versions of these operating systems. Other than that, the supported operating systems for web clients are the same as for the servers.
[2] General Note: ICONICS highly recommends using server class operating systems for systems that expect to host web clients, including WebHMI and MobileHMI. Workstation class operating systems have a very small limit to the number of clients that can be served at one time.
[3] Note for Embedded operating systems: ICONICS cannot guarantee compatibility with “Embedded” class operating systems. “Embedded” operating systems are often customized for their particular device, and if any operating system components were removed that our product relies on then those features will not function properly.
[4] Note: AnyGlass Server for MobileHMI and WebHMI (HTML5) in version 10.8x or later requires WebSockets not available in operating systems earlier than Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.
[5] Note for Vista: Any supported products will run only on Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions.

[1] Note for all 64-bit operating systems: All supported 32-bit products will run in 32-bit compatibility mode on 64-bit operating systems.
[2] Note for Embedded or IoT Core operating systems: ICONICS cannot guarantee compatibility with “Embedded” class operating systems. “Embedded” operating systems are often customized for their particular device, and if any operating system components were removed that our product relies on then those features will not function properly. There is an application note entitled, “Embedded GENESIS32 – Configuring Embedded Operating Systems” that can help you ensure compatibility.
[3] Note for Windows 8, 8.1, and 10: Any supported products will only run on Pro and Enterprise editions.
[4] Note for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1: See the application note entitled “Embedded GENESIS32 – Configuring Embedded Operating Systems for more detail on how to properly install these embedded operating systems to be compatible with Embedded GENESIS.
[5] Note for Windows 7: Any supported products will only run on Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions.
[6] Note for Vista: Any supported products will run only on Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions.
[7] Note for XP: Any supported products will run only on Professional edition.

[1] Logging Notes: Products that store a significant amount of data to SQL Server include Energy AnalytiX (prior to version 10.96.2), AlarmWorX64 Logger, and TrendWorX64 Logger. Other products may also use SQL Server to keep a smaller log, including ReportWorX64, BridgeWorX64, and AlarmWorX64 MMX. Energy AnalytiX uses Hyper Historian to log in 10.96.2 and later. Hyper Historian does not store data in SQL Server.
[2] Database Notes: The connection to SQL Server data source may be either local or remote. ICONICS supports SQL databases with encryption. Express editions also supported, but users should be aware of their storage limits. Earlier versions of SQL Server or other databases are not supported for configuration or logging databases. However, they may be used as data sources in GridWorX Server.
[3] Microsoft StreamInsight, a required component for Energy AnalytiX up to and including version 10.9, will run in demo mode for 180 days if not registered with a valid SQL Server license key. This means that SQL Express installations will only be able to run Energy AnalytiX for 180 days unless they are upgraded with a valid SQL Server license key. StreamInsight is no longer required starting in version 10.95.

[1] General Note: The Data Mining OPC server can query a larger variety of databases than what is listed in this matrix. This matrix is designed to show the databases that can be used as configuration databases for many of our configurators and as logging databases for TrendWorX32 Logger and AlarmWorX32 Logger, since they are more limited in the databases that can be used. “Not Supported” in this matrix does not necessarily mean that the Data Mining OPC server will be unable to query the database.
[2] MySQL Compatibility: Version 9.01 and later previously documented TrendWorX32 Logger as being compatible with MySQL version 5.0 (using MySQL ODBC Driver version 3.51.09). However, My SQL version 5.0 has documented security vulnerabilities, and ICONICS cannot recommend its use at this time. Users who require MySQL logging should speak with their ICONICS distributor or sales representative.
[3] Note for Oracle: Oracle is only supported for TrendWorX32 and AlarmWorX32 Logging Databases only. We do not allow any version of Oracle to be used as a configuration database. The Oracle Data Connector is required in all versions.

[1] Internet Explorer Microsoft End of Support Note: Starting January of 2016, only the latest Internet Explorer available for an operating system will be supported by Microsoft. For Windows 7 and above, this is Internet Explorer 11. (For more information, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/faq/internet-explorer-microsoft-edge) If you run into an issue with an ICONICS product, technical support determines that it is specific to the version of the browser, and you are not using a browser supported by Microsoft, then ICONICS may not be able to patch the issue in question.
[2] Limited Support Note: Since no version of Internet Explorer is receiving updates (except for certain security updates), Internet Explorer may have performance issues with HTML5 screens. ICONICS recommends using Edge or another HTML5-compliant browser for WebHMI (HTML5) clients.

[2] Note: If using 64-bit Windows Server 2008 you must use SharePoint Services 2.0 instead of MOSS 2007 or SharePoint Services 3.0 due to a known issue running in 32-bit compatibility mode on this operating system. This issue does not occur in 32-bit Windows Server 2008, and it has been resolved with version 9.21 or later.
