An agent defines a means for notifying operators when an alarm reports. The means can be any of the supported multimedia in AlarmWorX64 Multimedia. Once you have defined an agent, you can use it (along with any other agents) in any action sets. As a result, when an alarm reports, its subscription's action set knows which media to use to notify operators. For example, if the water level hits the Hi limit, an alarm is sent by email; but if the water level reaches the more critical HiHi limit, an alarm is sent by pager.
You can add a new multimedia agent for any of the Multimedia agents listed in the AlarmWorX Multimedia tree control. When configuring a multimedia agent, you must select a media template to apply to that agent, so make sure your templates are defined before you begin. For more information, refer to Media Templates.
Note: If you wish to use scheduling for assigning responsibility for alarms, you must configure the schedules before setting up your agents and action sets; for more information, refer to Schedules. You can also use roles for determining who an agent will notify; for more information, refer to Working with Roles. |
To add a new agent, do the following:
In the tree control on the left side under Multimedia Agents, select the agent folder you want to add the media agent to.
Either right-click the folder or click the Add button on the Home tab.
