KPIWorX includes a BI tab allowing users to include BI data and the use of scopes for filtering.
BI Tab Selected with Scopes
In the example above, the user has selected the BI tab in KPIWorX, navigated to a selected BI server in the data browser on the left of the window, then inserted both a filtering widget (on the left side of the canvas) and a table which shows the content of the data set. In presentation mode, when the filter is used, KPIWorX will show filtering as expected for one "scope" of filtering the data.
For comparison, in the next example, in configuration mode, an additional instance of the same filtering and table have been inserted beneath the original. The filtering widget is first selected and then Scope2 (within the yellow box in the top left of the KPIWorX window) is selected. You'll notice that the cell of the selected filtering widget then changes to the same color (in this example, yellow) as the selected scope in the top left corner.
Scope 2 for the Selected Filtering Widget Cell
When KPIWorX returns to presentation mode, and different filtering criteria are selected, as in this example, you will notice that the filters are no longer interconnected, as demonstrated in the image below.
Using Scope 2 in Presentation Mode - Filtering No Longer Interconnected
When scopes are used, when a user clicks on the Filter button () in the top right corner of the KPIWorX window, any scope assigned to a cell within the current KPIWorX window will be shown, along with its filtering criteria, if applicable, as shown below.
Scopes in Filtering Criteria
Note that there is no Scope1 header, as that is assumed to be the initial filtering criteria. When a second or additional scope is added, they will be listed here with their default name (e.g. Scope2) or user-assigned name. Scopes can be removed by clicking on the 'x' to the right of the scope/filtering criteria. This does not remove the cell (or its connected data), but only its assigned scope.
Users can edit or add scopes by clicking on the Edit Scope button () in the top left corner, to the right of the listed currently available scopes. This opens the Edit Scope properties, shown below.
Edit Scope Properties
Users can add new scopes by clicking on the +Add button. You can then enter a name for the scope in the text entry field. Clicking on the color box to the left of the scope name opens the color picker where you can select from preconfigured color options or enter a color code (e.g. hex, etc.). You can also delete scopes from this window by clicking on the "x" to the right of a scope name's text entry field.
